The Johns Hopkins Coronary Care Unit cares for patients admitted from The Johns Hopkins Hospital, along with patients referred from outside institutions. We have a large support team including experienced nurses, case managers, clinical pharmacists, house staff, cardiology fellows and an attending physician who oversees the care and management of all the patients. The CCU staff cares for patients with acute myocardial infarction and complications including cardiogenic shock, post-infarction angina, and congestive heart failure, as well as many other critically ill patients including those with severe cardiomyopathies, valvular heart disease and life-threatening arrhythmias. The CCU extensive list of services includes cardiac catheterization, right heart catheterization, continuous monitoring, physical therapy, nutritional education, risk factor modification education, and exercise rehabilitation. We currently have 13 beds for critical care and 12 beds for intermediate care. |
