Resources available through the Johns Hopkins Office of Referring Physician Services Throughout Johns Hopkins Medicine, we've made improving service and providing prompt communication with our patients' physicians among our top priorities. Today, many aspects of communication with referring physicians are consolidated under one roof.. This office integrates: - the Hopkins Access Line (HAL), providing around-the-clock help for everything from consultations to patient transfers;
- the Central Physician Directory database, enabling Hopkins to easily send to referring and personal physicians timely information about their patients;
- and the Physician Liaison Service, helping physicians better navigate Hopkins. It also handles any problems or concerns they might have.
Services supported by the Office of Referring Physicians include: Central Physician Directory 410-502-2737 Admission notices, discharge orders and discharge summaries can be sent to referring physicians either automatically or through the office of the admitting physician. Johns Hopkins USA provides one point of contact for out-of-town patients, helping you identify the appropriate physician or specialist to see, coordinate multiple medical appointments, arrange second opinions, and obtain general information about Johns Hopkins' many services. In addition, Hopkins USA staff can provide information related to transportation, lodging and other travel needs. The professional staff helps arrange consultations, second opinions or treatment, and coordinates appointments in a timely manner. Medical record review, language interpretation, cost estimates and assistance with travel arrangements are also offered. Evaluations are scheduled for one day, with a possible second day if additional tests are required. Before arriving at Hopkins, patients in the program are assisted with medical appointments and travel arrangements by courteous professionals who provide efficient access to our facilities. If needed, language interpretation and translation of medical records are provided for international patients and guests.
